Jaysus, when we’re not exporting problems, we importing dodgy solutions. Is anyone else NOT surprised to learn that over 1000 interceptions have been made of illegal abortion drugs being imported into the country in 2009 alone? How many other women have been forced to play Russian roulette with their health?
Once again the head in the sand attitude to women’s reproductive health is causing women to take unnecessary risks with their lives. It is incredibly risky to procure medicine from internet sources. Nobody know how an individual might react to certain drugs. Some women might be ashamed to attend their doctor if there are side effects. It pisses me off that Irish women are being left to fend for themselves when faced with an unwanted pregnancy. It’s just not good enough.
We need this debate to reopened and discussed in a calm and reasoned manner. We need to look after our people and treat them with dignity and respect. We need to stop pretending that abortion does not affect us. It does, it will and we know it.
